“When [the number of] COVID-19 patients with a high severity of illness increases, we will use the Antonio de Carvalho hospital because this hospital has sophisticated equipment for 150 rooms,” stated Dr. Odete Viegas, the general director of health care at the Ministry of Health, on Monday (13 April) in the situation room of the Integrated Crisis Management Centre (Sentru Integradu Jestaun Krize – SIJK).
In addition, the government also prepares an isolation center in Tasi-tolu which will be used if the current Vera Cruz isolation center is full.
“SIJK is also anticipating that if the Vera Cruz isolation center is full, then we will use the isolation center in Tasi-tolu,” Odete Viegas said.
Currently the Vera Cruz isolation center is being used as a quarantine center for moderate COVID-19 cases. “If the Vera Cruz isolation center is full, then we will use the Tasi-tolu isolation center for quarantine and isolation of mild COVID-19 patients,” she said. Odete Viegas also said on Monday that Timor-Leste has in total four confirmed COVID-19 cases, of whom one patient has recovered.
