Faustino da Costa previously is a Deputy- General Commander of PNTL, had been sworn in by the PM Taur Matan Ruak, as a General Commander of PNTL to replace Julio Hornai. In addition, Mateus Fernandes, previously as an Operational Commander of PNTL, has been promoted to the Deputy General Commander of PNTL, to replace Faustino da Costa.

During the ceremony, the President of the RDTL, Francisco Guterres Lu-Olo, has encouraged the new leaders of the PNTL, Commissioner Faustino da Costa and the Second Commissioner Mateus Fernandes, to work hard in order to guarantee peace and stability in Timor-Leste.

“First, I would like to encourage you, to secure the transformation process and modernisation of our Security institution (PNTL) as a key institution that can be done peacefully and confidently, based on our national security”. Said, the Head of State in his intervention during the celebration of the PNTL anniversary, at the PNTL Training Centre Comoro, Dili.

Besides that, the Head of the States has also acknowledged the positive progress within the PNTL Institution that has been done before.

“It is because of the positive progress that the PNTL is currently existing, another process is the work performances. Although one of two of the PNTL members were indiscipline. However in general, PNTL is moving forward”, said The President of RDTL.

In this celebration of the PNTL anniversary, it was participated by the President of RDTL, high level of the TL Government’s officials, as well as all the diplomatic corps in TL, including other guests.
